On the 29th of September, Manchester City played Leicester City at home and lost 5-2, the game seemed very one-sided with most of the action coming from Leicester. This game started off a domino effect of the top teams going on to lose after city’s loss, the manager of Man City had his future at the club put into question, the questions were coming from all over the industry with one fan saying “if Guardiola leaves we should get Bielsa ”.

Manchester United and Liverpool lost in devastating style as at the weekend, both losing by more than 5 goals. They both played on the same day, Manchester United played Tottenham who beat them 6-1. The goals came after Anthony Martial was given a straight red but before he was sent off United were already 3-1 down, following the red card Spurs put 3 more goals onto their tally.

The defending champions, Liverpool, played Aston Villa who were threatened with relegation back down to the Championship in the 2019/20 season. Liverpool were on the back foot from the 4th minute of this encounter with Villa. Ollie Watkins, Aston Villa’s new signing from championship favourites Brentford, ended the game very quickly by getting his hat trick before the 40th minute. Aston Villa ended up putting 7 goals past the Liverpool defence, which is usually well marshalled by Van Dyke. Mohamed Salah tried making inroads into the deficit for his team but nothing he did brought Liverpool back from the dead. Final score, Aston Villa beat Liverpool 7-2.
