Premier League: The worst display ever!!!

This weekend’s Premier League matches saw different clubs perform to their best, some clubs perform to their worst. The league table has changed again, with Everton at their best, currently sitting in 3rd and Aston Villa sitting in 4th. Manchester City showed their worst defensive Premier League performance since Guardiola became manager.

Brighton vs Manchester United - HT:(1-1) FT:(2-3)

Brighton welcomed Manchester United to Falmer Stadium(The Amex) and despite the run of play didn’t manage to secure the 3 points. The first half ended 1-1 after a goal from Neal Maupay and an own goal from Lewis Dunk(Brighton).In the second half, Manchester United found a new lease of life and Rashford put the ball in the back of the net within 10 minutes of the second-half starting. The stats suggest that Brighton was on top for the majority of the match but couldn’t convert the majority of their goal chances. The game ended 3-2 to Manchester United.

Crystal Palace vs Everton - HT:(1-2) FT:(1-2)

Crystal Palace hosted Everton at Selhurst Park Stadium and didn’t manage to secure the 3 points. The first half saw all the action with three goals coming within the first 45 minutes. The stats suggest that the match-winner was the dominant team within the game, with Everton having most of the possession and 5x the amount of shots as the home team. The game ended 2-1 to Everton.

West Brom vs Chelsea - HT:(3-0) FT:(3-3)

West Brom welcomed Chelsea to The Hawthorns, where they managed to secure a point out of the match. West Brom had put the ball in the back of the net three times within the first 27 minutes, putting Chelsea on the back foot from the get-go. Chelsea replied in the second half scoring three goals to make the match a draw. The stats suggest that Chelsea should have been on top throughout the game, having more possession, and more shots than their opponents. The match ended 3-3, with both teams securing a point.

Burnley vs Southampton - HT:(0-1) FT:(0-1)

Burnley’s last match saw them play Southampton but didn’t manage to gain all 3 points from the game. The match started and ended very quickly with the first and only goal coming within the first 5 minutes, Burnley couldn’t reply within the other 85 minutes. The match stats were pretty even with Burnley only having 4% more possession than their opponent. The match ended 1-0 to Southampton.

Sheffield United hosted recently promoted Leeds United to Bramall Lane, this was the first Derby for over 15 years in the Premier League between the two teams. The game seemed to be very even with Leeds and Sheffield having goal scoring chances but the goal came late in the second half as Leeds United Striker Patrick Bamford, put the ball in the back of the net in the 88th minute. The match ended 1-0 to Leeds United.

Tottenham vs Newcastle - HT:(1-0) FT:(1-1)

Tottenham welcomed Newcastle to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but only managed to gain one point from the game. The stats suggest that Tottenham were on top for the majority of the match with the most possession and the most shots out of the two teams. Newcastle's goal came very late in the match, they were awarded a penalty in the 97th minute and Callum Wilson put the ball firmly in the back of the net. The match ended 1-1 with both teams getting a point.

Manchester City hosted Leicester City at the Etihad and were dominated in large parts of the match with 5 goals going past their goalkeeper Ederson. Manchester City gave the worst defensive performance since Guardiola has been the manager of the team. The game ended 5-2 to Leicester City.

West Ham vs Wolves - HT:(1-0) FT:(4-0)

Wolves travelled to West Ham for their latest away fixture. West ham scored within the first 20 minutes with a strike from Jarrod Bowen this would set the pace for the rest of the game. West ham put 4 goals past Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patrício throughout the duration of the game. The stats suggest that the game should have gone the opposite way with Wolves having most of the possession and more shots on goal throughout the game. The match ended 4-0 to West Ham.

Fulham vs Aston Villa - HT:(0-2) FT:(0-3)

Fulham welcomed Aston Villa to Craven Cottage where they were dominated throughout in a 3-0 loss. Aston Villa started the game quickly with Midfielder Jack Grealish scoring within the first 4 minutes of the game starting. The stats show that Fulham had more of the ball but Aston Villa had more shots on target and made these count in front of goal. The match ended 3-0 to Aston Villa.

Liverpool vs Arsenal - HT:(2-1) FT:(3-1)

Arsenal travelled to Anfield for their latest away fixture against. The match started off with Arsenal being on top from an early strike for Alexandre Lacazette, but soon after Liverpool took the lead with Sadio Mane putting the ball past Leno. The stats show that the winners deserved the win, with all stats going in their favour. In this fixture, they showed their class and skill and the reason why they are the defending Premier League champions. The match ended 3-1 to Liverpool.
