Premier League: A flop or a success?

The Premier League started its campaign again this week with some clubs showing that their form has changed since last season while other teams are scraping the bottom of the barrel. Although, this week the stand out game was Liverpool vs Leeds United did Liverpool show why they won the Premier League title or did Leeds United show why they deserve to be in the Premier League?

Fulham vs Arsenal - HT:(0-1) FT:(0-3)

Fulham welcomed Arsenal to Craven Cottage. Fulham played their first game in the Premier League this season in which they lost 3-0. The game was one sided from the start, in the 8th minute Alexandre Lacazette put the ball in the back of the net. The possession in the match leveled out in the second half with both teams having near equal, with Arsenal having only 55% all game.

Crystal Palace vs Southampton - HT:(0-1) FT:(0-1)

Crystal Palace went face to face with Southampton, the game started off one sided with Palace taking an early lead with Wilfred Zaha scoring in the 13th minute. The game became heavily dominated by Southampton but despite having all the possession they could not make any of their chances count they had 71% possession all game. The match ended 1-0 to Crystal Palace.

Liverpool vs Leeds United - HT:(2-3) FT:(3-4)

The Premier League champions hosted Leeds United, who won the Championship last season. This game was the first game back in the Premier League for Leeds United in 16 years. The game all in all showed why Leeds United deserve to be in the Premier League by making Liverpol work for this win. An early penalty game Liverpool the lead and from that point on Leeds United were playing the catchup game. When either team attacked they both seemed like they were going to score. The game ended 4-3 to Liverpool.

West Ham vs Newcastle - HT:(0-0) FT:(0-2)

West Ham played their first game of the season against Newcastle. West Ham finished last season on a good run of games, drawing 2 and winning 2 but lost 2-0 to Newcastle. The game was end to end with West Ham having most of the possession but with both teams having 15 shots all game. The game ended 2-0 to Newcastle.

West Brom vs Leicester - HT:(0-0) FT:(0-3)

Leicester travelled to the Hawthorns and managed to secure themselves 3 points. The newly promoted West Brom instantly started off on the back foot and are currently bottom of the league on goal difference. No goals came in the first half but with a goal coming early on in the second half and 2 consecutive penalties killed all hopes of West brom winning their opening game. The game ended 3-0 to Leicester.

Tottenham vs Everton - HT:(0-0) FT:(0-1)

Tottenham met with Everton at Home but couldn’t secure the 3 points. The game started off being even with both teams playing the ball around and looking like they were going to score. In the second half it all went downhill for Tottenham, where an early strike from Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Everton in the lead. The game stats are very similar with Everton only having more shots then their opponent. The match finished 1-0 to Everton.

Sheffield United vs Wolves - HT:(0-2) FT:(0-2)

Sheffield welcomed Wolves to Bramall Lane but couldn't defeat their opponent. Wolves took the lead very early on in the game by scoring 2 goals within 3 minutes, although Sheffield tried coming back nothing they created went into the back of the net. The matched end 2-0 to Wolves.

Brighton vs Chelsea - HT:(0-1) FT:(1-3)

Chelsea travelled to the home ground of Brighton, Falmer Stadium(The Amex) where they secured 3 points. Chelsea’s Jorginho put the ball in the back of the net half way through the first half but Brighton struck back with an early goal in the second half. Chelseas didn’t let this get to them as they put 2 more past the keeper in the space of 10 minutes. The match ended 3-1 to Chelsea.
