Nevada Gaming Control Board has approved a notice to let licensed bookmakers have the opportunity to offer wagers on the ESL One Rio Major but have only approved three different types of wagering, head to head, match winner and overall winner.

Following the recent approval of the Call of Duty license, Nevada Gaming Control Board are quickly expanding their suite of eSports games adding ESL One Rio Major to the ever growing list. With an already wide range of games being approved ESL One Rio Major is just another, following suit with League of Legends, Dota 2, iRacing, Overwatch, and other Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitions such as the ESL Pro League and ESL Meisterschaft.

The ESL One Rio Major market will be immediately available for all licensed bookmakers to tap into, but any wagers must cease before the match starts. In play betting has been banned within the license not allowing avid bettors to bet mid way through the game play.

Nevada Gaming Control Board Senior Analyst Michael Lawton recently commented on the high approval rate of esports betting coming from the state in an interview with The Wrap “The approval of more esports betting in the past month is purely operator driven and more requests have been made recently amid suspension of traditional sports events.”.
