Top flight English football set on finishing the 2019/20 season
Top flight English football set on finishing the 2019/20 season.
Top flight English clubs are set to finish the 2019/20 season within a 40 day window. The season finish was one of the points discussed at the Premier League meeting last Friday but did not discuss when or if the action would resume due to the world wide pandemic. The Premier League has been suspended since the 13th of March, a decision that was made when the government announced closure of all non-essential activities. Following an announcement made by the FA due to government rules all football from grass roots upwards would be suspended until further notice.
Earlier this month the Premier League said that play would only resume when it is safe to do so, this followed the rapid development of the pandemic world wide. The dates that have been thrown about with the Premier League starting and concluding are purely hypothetical with no official announcement, with the government extending lockdown for an extra 3 weeks (7th May) clubs are looking at various different ways to resume the action and conclude the Premier League season.
