Bellingham set to make England senior debut due to injury

Jude Bellingham has been given the call up by Southgate to join the England squad for the first time for the internationals against Ireland, Belgium and Iceland. The young English midfield was given the call following the withdrawal of James Ward-Prowse and Trent Alexander-Arnold through injury.

The 17-year-old, Borussia Dortmund midfielder, was originally set to join the England U21 squad. He made an impressive start since the start of the season in Germany after making the switch from Birmingham City, he has featured in 10 games and has scored once. Since finishing his first full campaign last season the English youngest has made an incredible start to his senior career.

Alexander-Arnold and Ward-Prowse are set to be missing from this round of international games. England manager Gareth Southgate hopes he can call upon Manchester United superstar Marcus Rashford to take the place for one of these missing players. The United forward is scheduled to report for England duty on Thursday (12th November 2020) to allow medical staff to assess the injury he picked up in 3-1 victory over Everton last Saturday.

The majority of the England squad arrived at St. George's Park on Monday, the following Ben Chilwell, Eric Dier, Harry Kane, Kyle Walker, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling, arrived, according to a Sky Sports report on Tuesday. This is ahead of the match against Ireland on Thursday 12th.
